Dr Leanne Scott is a registered homeopathic practitioner

As a child, her parents always used homeopathic remedies and she grew up with homeopathy. She studied homeopathy at the University of Johannesburg. While completing her studies, she travelled to India in 2004 to study with Dr Rajesh Shah, an internationally renowned homeopathic practitioner. It was an invaluable experience, as she was taught how homeopathy is used as a first-line medicine in a primary health care setting. She was also fortunate enough to be invited to Baden Baden, Germany, to complete a training course in Biopuncture.

What is Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a form of treatment that was developed in 1796 in Germany by a physician Dr Samuel Hahnemann. Today, it is one of the most popular and highly effective forms of medicine worldwide. Homeopathy makes use of natural medicines made from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms in small and potentized doses.

Homeopathy is used in treating and managing a wide range of illnesses, acute and chronic. The word “H homoeopathy” is derived from the Greek “homoios” meaning “like” and “pathos” meaning “suffering”. It is based on the principle of “like cures like”. For example, a patient suffering from hayfever may benefit from the homeopathic remedy Allium Cepa, which is prepared from onion, because onion in its crude form produces similar symptoms such as watery eyes or runny nose.
It works by stimulating the body’s own self-regulatory and defence systems to initiate the healing process and recovery. It is one of the only systems of medicine safe enough to be used in pregnancy and in infancy, as well as with other conventional treatments.
